Welcome!! Updated 1/23/12

The purpose of this site is a resource for extended assignments and reinforcement/extended exploration of topics. Daily homework and assignments WILL NOT be listed here. Students are required to have an assignment notebook at all times and assignments will be written on the board each day for students to copy.

7-8 Grading Policy- Mrs. Ritter's Room
 25% homework and quizzes
 25% participation and group work
 50% tests and independent projects.
I will not accept exit questions late, I will take homework 1 day late for reduced credit. If the online gradebook states "m" you may still be able to turn in work. If the online gradebook states "0" the grade is a zero.

Junior high general assignment policy
Each teacher’s final grades will be individually weighted according to tests, quizzes, homework, projects, etc.   The following are guidelines  for all written work.

1.     Homework is due on the day after it is assigned unless otherwise indicated- it should be stapled, properly headed and prepared to be handed in when class starts.

2.     A HW assignment is considered late if it is not turned in when the papers are collected.  This means that if it is turned in later during the class in which it is due or later on the day it is due, it is late.  Assignments can be turned in until the following day- after that time the grade will be a 0%.

3.     When a student is absent, he/she will have the number of days to make up assignments equal to the number of days absent.  This means if a student is absent two days, the student has two days to make up the assignment- THIS INCLUDES TESTS/QUIZZES.  If a student has a prolonged absence due to a serious illness, other provisions will be made on an individual basis.

4.      Remember that parents may request homework after two days of absence.  When a student is absent only one day, homework will not be provided.  The student may get the missed assignment when he/she returns.

5.     Usually, there are no retests after a test is given.  Students should take advantage of extra credit opportunities.

6.       All chapter tests are returned to the student to take home and obtain a parent’s signature
7.     When answering questions, answers must be in complete sentences.  The question asked should be included (repeated) in the answer.  Always skip one space between the individual answers.

8.     Questions involving answers written in paragraph form should be well-developed, well-written sentences using correct grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

9.     All work should be neat, organized, properly headed and in blue or black pen unless otherwise noted (pencil for math, diagramming, etc).

Sample heading:

Date (Month, day, year)                                                  Name  + Homeroom (ex. 7B)

                                             Subject + Assignment (p.__ #__)

   10.  Plagiarism will not be tolerated. This includes any complete sentence or idea copied from an original source without proper citing. Unintentional plagiarism is still plagiarism, check your work before you turn it in!!!
